hi em currently in USA on H1B and want to get info. on Canada immigration.I want to file for skilled worker only for me, once i get approved i will go back to us and finish my current contract job whi

hi em currently in USA on H1B and want to get info. on Canada immigration.I want to file for skilled worker only for me, once i get approved i will go back to us and finish my current contract job which will be done in 1-2 yrs after which i will be moving to Canada for good is that advisable to do so.
But i would like to apply for my wife and son later for visas so they can stay with me here in USA and come with me to Canada with me later .
how long will it take for them to get visas and do i have to go back before they can get visas???

If you qualify under one of the Skilled Worker programs, it may take around 2 years for you to obtain your permanent residence. Once granted your PR, you can come to Canada to complete your 'landing' formalities and return to USA. Make sure you stay in Canada for an aggregate of 2 years out of 5 years from the landing date to preserve your PR status. You can sponsor your wife and dependent children once you return to Canada. Make sure to include your wife and children in your application as 'non-accompanying dependents', otherwise you won't be able to sponsor them if they are not listed and are not medically examined before YOU are issued your PR.
